Generally, home floorings are available in either what is known as domestic or exotic. Both the domestic and exotic include Various Types Of Home Flooring. Domestic refers to the more common types of hardwood flooring such as hickory, pecan, white ash, oak, mesquite, Douglas fir, and more. Those are all names that most people are familiar with. Among the exotics are andiroba, amarettowood, blood ash, bamboo, cypress, and many more including the cherry flooring which is the type most recognized in that category. Cherry is a well known finish for many wood items, such as tables, chest of drawers, nightstands, and headboards, but few may realize its worth. The Brazilian Cherry flooring is imported from Brazil because of it's durability and hardness.

No matter where you live, the biggest threat to the beauty of any hardwood flooring is water. Water can very easily seep down through the cracks of the flooring and cause discolouration and lift the finish off. This is very true of ash flooring due to the fact that it is quite porous.

Hardwood flooring is making a huge comeback now, you could even say it became retro. And considering that almost everything retro is automatically very popular the same happened with it. History seems to repeat itself and while young people are under impression they have discovered something new and different, older generations sometimes wonder how is it possible that something they have replaced with carpeting is again so popular.

By Harold Baldwin

Unfortunately, although not surprisingly, hardwoods are expensive. One approach is to build with more economical construction grade materials and then cover them with beautiful hardwoods. This is the typical approach with wooden stair treads.
